Our mission
SSDN exists so Spanish-speaking youth can learn to speak with confidence, think clearly, and lead, in their own language.
Why we exist
Spanish-speaking youth need a place to practice in their own language.
At the tournaments where Rahul competed, almost everyone spoke English as a first language. SSDN was started to offer a space designed in Spanish from the start, for kids who already think and argue in that language.
Our story
Founded by someone who saw the problem up close.
Rahul is a Colorado high school student and competitive debater. After years of competing, he noticed that almost every debater spoke English as a first language — and the Spanish-speaking kids who would thrive in this space rarely found a way in.
SSDN is his answer: public speaking, debate, and leadership workshops in Spanish for students in 5th to 8th grade. They're designed so a shy kid who has never spoken in front of a group leaves having done it, and wanting to do it again. Today SSDN has a team in Colorado and Nebraska and works with an international partner, Project Be The Voice.
